Summary:
Rolland disait à sa jeune épouse Isabelle avant de partir pour la Turquie : – « Tu me pleures maintenant, mais un autre viendra sécher tes larmes ». – « Si je devais t’oublier, viens, en spectre, me le reprocher. Et si je me marie, viens me chercher le soir de mes noces ».
Rolland meurt. Isabelle, un an après, donne son consentement à un autre. Mais pendant le banquet, un homme revêtu de fer se présente et, une fois retiré son casque, une tête de mort apparaît.
– « Tu m’avais promis que tu me resterais fidèle ».
Il allonge vers Isabelle sa lourde main et la terre les engloutit.
Isabelle revient tous les ans mais le spectre ne s’en dessaisit pas. Depuis, personne n’a demeuré au château.
