Un jeune homme surnommé « Petit-coq » va chez une veuve lui demander sa fille Perrine en mariage.
– « Serais-tu heureuse de trouver un époux ? Tu trouverais le temps plus court l’été. Il te chaufferait ton lit l’hiver ». – « Oh oui ! S’il est chanteur, danseur et garçon de choix ».
Le jeune homme va voir le recteur pour lui demander qu’il les marie. Mais celui-ci les renvoie en constatant leur ignorance des rudiments du catéchisme.
Trois ou quatre mois plus tard, la veuve va voir le recteur lui disant de se presser : – « Ma fille est en langueur ».
– « Vous m’avez fait plier, dit le recteur, longue et heureuse vie ».
